Active/Ongoing
Time is a significant factor in this socially engaged artwork, which consists of a series of grey-black colored ice statues of varying dimensions. The ice material is composed of colored water that conceals contents within. During its inaugural installation at Place des Nations in front of the United Nations in Geneva, audience members were encouraged to interact with the sculptures in ways that aligned with the collection’s titular theme.
Participants made various attempts to reveal the concealed content, with each individual free to photograph and document their experiences. These photographs were then forwarded to institutions, organizations, and embassies responsible for perpetrating, exacerbating, or inciting violence against children.
Since the Gaza invasion by Israel, children have been killed massively and brutally. This project remains open for performance at demonstrations or any type of movement regarding this ongoing massacre. The temporary nature of the ice sculptures serves as a powerful metaphor for the urgency of action and the fragility of young lives.
